I have read several books on Emotional Intelligence and how it is supposedly more important than book smarts. Several articles have said that your "EQ is more important than your IQ" but is that true? I don't necessarily agree with that. I think that they are equally important. Sometimes it is easier to get along with others when you have a high EQ and a low IQ, but I think that we are best served when they are about the same. That said, sometimes people who are extremely dumb tend to do well with people and tend to get promotions that really smart people do not -- because they have high emotional intelligence. Everyone has an ability to have learn better EQ, and they should.
